In this course we look at most of the important herbs, the conditions they require, and their uses. By working through each lesson it is hoped that the reader will share the inspiration that herbs offer and will gain a comprehensive understanding of herbs, their cultivation and uses. At the end of each of the ten texts there is an accumulative alphabetical index of herbs and spices.

Lesson 2 The major families:- Umbelliferae; Labiatae; Liliaceae (Alliums). Garlic.
Lesson 3 Umbelliferae family. Viruses, bacteria, fungi and pests. Parsleys.
Lesson 4 Umbelliferae family continued. Herb gardens. Theme gardens.
Lesson 5 Labiatae family - mints. Commercial production of mint. Weed control.
Lesson 6 Labiatae family continued. Preserving herbs: drying, freezing, using oil.
Lesson 7 Labiatae family continued. Marketing the products. Uses of herbs.
Lesson 8 Allium family. Protective structures. Microclimates. Annual tasks in a garden.
Lesson 9 Cruciferae family - cress; mustard and horseradish. Zingiberaceae family.
Lesson 10 The scented geraniums. Lavenders. Aromatherapy. Herbalism. Organisations.
