Success in the RHS Diploma requires the passing of the two core modules F and G, one optional module D or E, and the practical examination, module H. Candidates should have their RHS Advanced Certificate. Our course is also of value to those who wish to extend their applied horticultural knowledge and skills. Members who successfully complete our course will receive our HCC Certificate.

| Lesson 2 | Resource Management These lessons provide the resource management knowledge required for a supervisory position or for a self-employed person. They include related legislation, communication skills and management of human and physical resources. |

| Lesson 4 | Genetics, Plant Breeding, systematic Botany These lessons provide the student with the necessary information to understand the principles behind the practices of plant breeding. They deal with basic genetics including mitosis and meiosis. The role of natural organisms and processes in plant breeding and development and the advantages of F1 and F2 hybrids are explored. The role of genetic modification in crops is reviewed. Systematic botany: characteristics of representative plant families and plant identification. |

| Lesson 6 | Plant Physiology II This lesson builds on the Advanced Certificate unit on Plant Physiology and examines the physiology of flowering, dormancy in seeds and plants, artificial control of growth, growth regulation; plant growth and spacing; post-harvest storage, transporting, retailing and shelf-life of plant products. |
| Lesson 7 | Practical Horticulture This lesson relates to specifications, calculations, assessment and organisation, maintenance, planning and planning exercises, identification of plants, their tissues and allied items. Strategies for the control of weeds, pests and disorders. |

| Lesson 14 - 16 | Module I of the RHS Advanced the interlinking of the Advanced and the Diploma syllabi. Thus candidates who choose Module D for their Advanced examination will have to sit Module I or J for the Diploma; hence those who sit Module I for the Advanced will take Module D or J for the Diploma. |
